You read that right, it's an off-road buggy with a Porsche engine from one of the most renowned Porsche builders and restomodders in the industry. And with a name like the Tuthill Meyers Manx LFG (that stands for "Let's F'ing Go!"), you could say it's got a bit of an attitude. Revealed today at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering, the LFG is the most ambitious off-roader since Tuthill partnered with Singer on the ACS. Limited to just 100 units, purchasing one will give you access to six years of pre-planned adventures all over the globe, because, if you weren't aware, Tuthill doesn't just build epic Porsches, it also takes them rallying in the most remote locations, making it the perfect partner for the wildest dune buggy of the year.
A Porsche Flat-6 Turned Up To 11(000 RPM)
At the heart of the LFG is an iteration of the spectacular Tuthill K engine - the 3.1-liter, four valve per cylinder artwork known to rev to 11,000 rpm in Tuthill's own 911K. Whether that redline remains intact here is unconfirmed, and even the power outputs have been kept hidden. Power is routed through a 6-speed sequential transmission before touching down through a 4WD system with front, center, and rear limited-slip differentials. Serious stuff. But you can bet that however much it makes (we've reached out to Tuthill to confirm), the LFG goes like absolute stink. That's because it has carbon fiber bodywork to reduce weight.
Beneath all that carbon, there's some serious mechanical hardware. We're talking twin five-way adjustable dampers with hydraulic bump stops and a set of BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires to help you tear up the turf. And if things should go awry, an integrated Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS) under the bodywork means you'll emerge largely unscathed.
Designed By An Icon, Built To Be Used
Like the look of the LFG? That bodywork has been designed by Freeman Thomas, the same Freeman Thomas who penned the utterly iconic first-gen Audi TT. It has a removable roof, too, so you can turn it into a true Meyers Manx-style open-air experience like the originals. It's modern and aggressive, but a clear tribute to the original fiberglass dune buggy.
"We imagined the perfect Meyers Manx, brought Freeman Thomas on board to infuse his design brilliance, and merged it with Tuthill's engineering mastery. The result is raw, visceral, novel, and totally uncompromising. We call it LFG for a reason." - Phillip Sarofim, Chairman of the Board at Meyers Manx
Inside the cabin, however, there are some neat modcons to make your forays into the wilderness a little more comfortable. These include climate control and integrated GPS, and a full-width digital dash experience with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. It's even got cruise control.
To ensure you get where you need to, and then some, a long-range fuel tank is standard fare, making this one seriously fit-for-duty performance buggy. And used they shall be. In 2027, Meyers Manx and Tuthill will begin six years of off-road experiences with buyers, starting with the inaugural LFG Baja Tour in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Meyers Manx's historic first victory in the Mexican 1000, which later became the Baja 1000.
Speaking of how such a project even started, Sarofim says, "This project started as a dream between my long-time pal Richard and me, both in constant pursuit of the ultimate expression of freedom and performance." Richard Tuthill, founder and namesake of Tuthill Porsche, added, "It's fairly well known that I love experiences, I love the effect it has on those that join us wherever we go. This, however, is slightly different. We are not necessarily bringing the stopwatch with us on these trips. I want to take people to see the most amazing parts of the world. I have been super lucky to see some life-changing scenery whilst Rallying, the memories I have as a result are immeasurable. These things change you. I think for the better."
According to Tuthill, the LFG is something "proper," a character he describes as fun and mischievous and something he's "genuinely never seen or felt."
