New 4500 Units for Europe. 18 units sent to Portugal Leather dashboard and upholstery Full Extras Taking advantage of the success of the Ranger Raptor, Ford launched a new special series of its Ranger pick-up, called Wildtrak Thunder, which offers greater load capacity and an exterior image inspired by the North American brand's SUVs. Following the excellent reception achieved by the Raptor version, Ford took the opportunity to create special and limited series of its pick-up, including the Ranger MS-RT – inspired by the world of rallying –, the Stormtrak, the Wolftrak and the Thunder. The latter is already available at the brand's dealers, but production was limited to just 4,500 units. 18 units came to Portugal. Based on the Wildtrak version, the special Thunder series combines an image inspired by the brand's SUVs with a high standard capacity and the typical load capacity of a pick-up. Externally, it is distinguished by the body paint in “Sea Grey”, the 18-inch black light alloy wheels, Ebony Black finishes on the front grille, rear bumper, fog light frames and door handles. Red inserts on the grille and sports load platform complement the exclusive style of this limited series, as do the “Thunder” emblems, with a three-dimensional effect, on the front doors and tailgate, with the “Ranger” logo in matt black. Moving on to the cabin, it offers capacity for five occupants and features black leather seats with red stitching with Thunder designation, a covering that is also present on the top of the dashboard, on the steering wheel, on the gearbox lever and on the doors. The dashboard has a horizontal layout and is divided into three functional areas: a closed compartment on the passenger side, a central console that includes a touch screen and climate control system controls, and the driver's seat. The instrument panel is centrally dominated by the speedometer and on each side there is a screen that allows access, through controls on the multifunction steering wheel, to information from the on-board computer or navigation and entertainment systems, as well as the telephone. MECHANICS The Ranger Wildtrak Thunder shares the 213 hp 2.0-liter diesel engine as the Ranger Raptor and has an in-line four-cylinder engine that is currently found in a pickup truck. The engine is associated with a ten-speed automatic transmission – the same one found in the Mustang and Ranger Raptor – which allows you to make the most of the maximum torque of 500 Nm, shifting gears very smoothly. One of the Ranger's strong points compared to the competition is its rolling comfort. Conclusion: Top of the Range and Special Series. LIKE NEW
