Based on the concept showcased at the New York Auto Show in March 2016, the production version builds on the 'Athletic Elegance' design theme. Overall, the profile of the Genesis G70 is characterized by a long hood, an expansive dash-to-axle ratio and a sloping roofline, a nod to the car's sports sedan nature. It features the brand's signature upright grille flanked by headlamps that appear to have black inserts.
The spy shots reveal its 10-spoke alloy wheel design and several other features including a panoramic sunroof and LED tail lamps. Unlike the current Genesis lineup's mostly monochromatic colour palette, the G70 will get more vibrant colour options including the red and blue shades as seen in the spy pictures here.
The Facebook page has also shared images of the interior of the Genesis G70 that uncover the dashboard layout and front seats. It features a floating touchscreen placed above the air conditioning vents. There are three rotary dials that act as control for the auto aircon. The cabin gets a sporty all-black treatment with leather seats and diamond pattern stitching on the interior door trim. The aluminium inserts seen around the dial, gear selector and door pads help break the monotony add some contrast to an otherwise dark theme.
The Genesis G70 shares its platform with the Kia Stinger. It could even borrow its powertrain options, which include a 2.0 L petrol, 2.2 L diesel along with the 3.0 L twin turbo V6 petrol that powers the Stinger GT.
Rivals of the Genesis G70 include the BMW 3-series, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Volvo S60 and the Jaguar XE.
