BMW's two largest SUVs have been around for several years and every now and then the Bavarians decide to give them the special edition treatment as it's the case here. Meet the X5 Special Edition and the X6 M Sport Edition that come with additional goodies that you could otherwise add as optional equipment while configuring a regular version of the X5 or X6. There are some exceptions that might tempt you into buying one of the SUVs as some features are exclusive to these two new variants.
As standard, the X5 gets the M Sport Package and a fancy Dakota leather trim applied also onto the heated front seats. Alternatively, buyers can opt for an Alcantara/leather combo finished in anthracite/black and adorned with the M badging without having to pay more. Those wanting to spice up the premium SUV even further can take a look at the Individual catalog and select from one of the five available colors for the extended Merino leather upholstery.
BMW will also throw in tinted windows and the Multifunctional Instrument Display to lure you in, though the latter can't be had on the plug-in hybrid xDrive40e iPerformance version. With the exception of the torquetastic X5 M50d, all versions of the regular X5 can be had in the new Special Edition guise.
Moving on to the X6 M Sport Edition, this one too gets the M Sport Package right from the start. It comes painted in an attractive Long Beach Blue metallic hue, but you can ask BMW to paint the body in Mineral White or Carbon Black. It sits on exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels or optionally you can get a larger 21-inch set to make the X6 stand out furthermore.
There's not much to say about the plush interior as the special edition only adds a carbon fiber trim and the niceties that come with the aforementioned M Sport Package. You can have the X6 M Sport Edition in any version you want as long as it's not the X6 M50d.
BMW will have both on sale in Europe beginning with December.
