2019 Volvo S60 shown undisguised in leaked photo
It's our first decent look at the rear of the all-new midsize sedan

We got a peak at a heavily camouflaged version of the forthcoming 2019 Volvo S60 a week ago, courtesy of Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelson's Twitter feed. Now, Swedish outlet Teknikens Värld has shared a photo of the new midsize sedan sans adornment.

The S60, shown here in a shop setting, comes on the heels of the introduction of the V60, the wagon on which it's based. We get a decent look at the rear end, which looks similar to the larger S90, with virtually identical brake lights, diffuser and sharp, squared-off deck. And while we can't see much of the front end, we already know it's largely similar to that of the new V60. The S60 also appears to share the wagon's creasing along the lower side doors.

The V60 and S60 are the oldest vehicles in Volvo's stable, introduced back in 2010 as Ford was selling the brand to Geely of China. The all-new S60 is set to grow larger but narrower than its predecessor, according to Teknikens Värld, with more interior room and luggage capacity.

Built on the same Scalable Platform Architecture shared with the new V60 and other models, the S60 is expected to also share the V60's powertrain options, which in the U.S. will include a 250-horsepower turbo four-cylinder with front-wheel drive and a 316-hp supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder with all-wheel drive, with a T8 plug-in hybrid likely later on.

The S60 starts production in South Carolina this summer.
